Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Award

This award is given to a credit union for its practical application of credit union philosophy within the actual operation of the credit union.  It is awarded for internal programs and services that not only benefit membership but demonstrate a credit unions commitment to the practical application of the "People-Helping-People" philosophy.

  • Less Than $50 Million in Assets
    • First Place – Postal Family FCU
  • $50 Million to $250 Million in Assets
    • First Place – Railway Credit Union, Mandan
  • $250 Million or More in Assets
    • Honorable Mention – Sioux Falls FCU, Sioux Falls
    • Second Place – North Star Community CU, Maddock
    • First Place – Capital Credit Union, Bismarck


Desjardins Financial Education Award

CUNA created the Desjardins program to recognize leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of financial literacy for all ages. Naming the award after Alphonse Desjardins emphasizes the movement's long-time commitment to youth. Besides founding the first credit unions in Canada and the U.S., Desjardins pioneered youth savings clubs and in-school "banks," known as caisses scolaires. This award considers all activities supporting the personal finance education of members and non-members, including, but not limited to, face-to-face teaching using proprietary materials and curricula, as well as financial literacy leadership efforts.

  • $50 Million to $250 Million in Assets
    • First Place (Adult and Youth categories) – Aberdeen Federal Credit Union, Aberdeen 
  • $250 Million to $1 Billion in Assets
    • First Place (Adult Category) – Capital Credit Union, Bismarck 

Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award

This award is given to a credit union or chapter/multiple credit union group for its social responsibility projects within the community. This may include raising funds for charity, educational activities, or community involvement projects, such as a volunteer fair, building low-income housing, or loaning employees a few hours a week to work in hospitals, retirement homes, schools, etc.

  • Less than $50 Million in Assets
    • Second Place – Postal Family FCU, Fargo 
    • First Place – Riverfork FCU, Grand Forks
      • Riverfork FCU was also awarded FIRST PLACE NATIONALLY for the 2019 Dora Maxwell Award by the Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) National Awards Committee. 
  • $50 Million to $250 Million in Assets
    • Honorable Mention – Aberdeen FCU, Aberdeen
    • Second Place – Railway Credit Union, Mandan
    • First Place – Sioux Empire FCU, Sioux Falls
  • $250 Million to $1 Billion in Assets
    • Honorable Mention – Sioux Falls FCU, Sioux Falls 
    • Second Place – Capital Credit Union, Bismarck
    • First Place – First Community CU, Jamestown
