Credit unions across the Dakotas have successfully worked hard to educate themselves on governmental relations and the political process in general. If we’re not advocating for our members; for our financial institution – who will? We believe that good government requires the participation of the people, its businesses, as well as groups or associations. In support of this core value, the North Dakota and South Dakota Governmental Affairs Committees (GAC) is once again offering the GAC assistance to credit union professionals and volunteers who would like to attend the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference, February 27 - March 2, 2017, at the Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C.
The scholarships are open to all credit union executives, staff, and volunteer members. The scholarship award typically covers the registration fee which ranges from $500-$1000 (depending on the number of qualified applicants). The purpose of the Governmental Affairs Scholarship assistance is to cultivate, promote, and energize credit union professionals and members in the grassroots advocacy process. Other expenses such as travel, lodging, and entertainment will be the responsibility of either a sponsoring credit union or the individual(s). Anyone who has received a GAC scholarship assistance award in the last three years is not eligible to apply.
The deadline for consideration is noon on December 16, 2016 (postmarked, emails, or faxes). Scholarship winners will be posted and notified by December 31, 2016. Please feel free to make as many copies of the application as you need. For more information, contact Jay Kruse at 800-279-6328, ext. 20928 or via email at email@example.com.
