Time for a Paycheck Checkup!
by CUAD Communications

Planning for retirement, saving, investing and budgeting are smart ways to reach financial goals. Planning for tax season is also vital to making sure you don’t owe more tax than you’re expecting next year.

This week, the IRS urges taxpayers to do a Paycheck Checkup as soon as possible to see if they’re having their employer withhold the right amount of tax. The IRS Withholding Calculator can help taxpayers check their current withholding, determine if they need to adjust it and avoid tax filing surprises next year.

Please help us get the word out to your members through your website, newsletters, and/or social media. The earlier people check and adjust their withholding, the more time there is for changes to take place evenly during the rest of the year.

It is especially important to check your tax withholding if you:

  • owed additional tax with your return this year
  • want to adjust the size of your refund for next year
  • have a life change this year like marriage, childbirth, adoption, buying a home or an income change.

You can easily adjust your withholding by submitting a new Form W-4 to your employer.
