Back by popular demand, CUAD is thrilled to announce that registration is open for the Small Credit Union Roundtable. This one-day event will be held at the Doubletree by Hilton in Fargo, ND on September 5th from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This meeting is designed specifically for CEOs of Credit Unions $100 million and under, as topics unique to them will be the focus.

This year, we are extremely excited to have Tom Sakash, Manager of CUNA’s Small Credit Union Initiatives, as our featured presenter. Tom sits at the national cross-section of both the challenges and opportunities facing small credit unions, and leverages his knowledge of small business, keeping economies local, and the cooperative spirit to form connections as he works to build a culture of collaboration among small credit unions across the country. He is a former newspaper reporter from Northern California where he covered city government, small business, and entrepreneurship. Before taking over CUNA's small credit union initiatives, he was part of the team that launched CUNA's credit union awareness initiative! At our event, he will share specific case studies of small credit unions that are thriving because they found their niche. Then, he can help you find your unique role with a special hands-on exercise.

Also presenting this year, we have Phil Love, CEO of Pactola, a member-owned lending CUSO based in Rapid City, SD. Many of you already know Phil, as he is a frequent attendee at CUAD events, holds many of his own lending educational events, and also writes a weekly article for the Memo, "CUSO Talk." At our upcoming event, he will be talking about specific small credit union strategies for increasing a CU Return on Assets (ROA) and expanding your reach in your community. Phil Love has been Pactola’s President/CEO since 2012. He holds a BA in Economics from Westminster College and a Graduate Degree in Banking from the University of Wisconsin. He has over 30 years of banking experience, with over 21 of those years focusing on lending to businesses and farmers.

Moreover, our meeting will be focused on sharing and networking what small credit unions need to do to grow and become relevant. We will address loans, deposits, sustaining member growth and how it affects our business lifecycle, and how businesses prioritize those necessary services. We will also discuss issues that deal with staff and volunteer training and recruitment, third-party vendor risks, and social media policies, and much more! You do not want to miss this.
