CUNA GAC Starts in Less Than 30 Days!
by CUAD Communications

The CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) starts in less than 30 days, and that means the final countdown is on to make sure you're registered! As of today, we have 34 credit union professionals from 12 different credit unions in the Dakotas ready to share their message in Washington, DC. If you are already registered, great! If you are still on the fence, undecided, here are some important reasons you will want to attend.

“Dakotas’ credit unions help deliver a brighter financial future to nearly 500 thousand members and their communities,” says Jay Kruse, CUAD’s Chief Advocacy Officer. “We believe that a strong partnership between credit unions and policymakers can help build wealth and advance those communities, keeping our economies strong. It’s important to continually remind our congressional delegation of our ongoing investment in Main Street, and our mission to improve lives by putting people over profits. That’s why we want to carry the credit union message directly to them, in Washington DC,” he added.

In addition to the very important Hike the Hill meetings, during the GAC, you have the opportunity to mingle and network with about 5,000 credit union professionals from all across the country. Plus, this year’s event has a fantastic list of keynote speakers lined up for the mainstage. Who, you ask?

How about Nikki Haley, former governor of South Carolina and the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations! Haley has been a respected champion of human rights and oversaw critical reforms at the UN. Since leaving her ambassador appointment, Haley has founded Stand for America, an organization that promotes policies that strengthen America’s economy, culture, and national security.

Also on deck: Marcus Buckingham, the in-demand consultant, speaker, and best-selling author who has dedicated his career to teaching organizations how they can best leverage their employees’ strengths.

Nicolle Wallace, political analyst and New York Times best-selling author. You may recognize Wallace as host of MSNBC’s Deadline, and frequent contributor and guest host on other network shows. She is a master storyteller who does an exceptional job breaking down the latest in politics and media.

Stephanie Cutter, named one of the “50 Most Powerful People in Washington” by GQ and one of the most prominent voices in the Democratic party, top strategists and crisis managers. She has been a trusted advisor to some of America’s most powerful Democratic leaders.

And finally, just last week, CUNA announced the final speakers: Platon, one of the world's most well-known photographers who uses imagery to create a visual language, and David Plouffe, a force behind President Obama's two successful presidential campaigns.

Apart from the main stage, the CUNA GAC will have breakout sessions for everyone, with topics ranging from the economy, to DEI, cybersecurity, and compliance – plus how credit unions can serve the financial well-being of their members. Not to mention the incredible exhibit hall!

Every serious credit union professional should attend the GAC at least once – and this could be YOUR YEAR. But the first step is to register! CUAD has everything you need to plan your GAC experience. Just visit our website here, and be sure to contact Jeff Olson or Jay Kruse if you have any questions.

Finally, if you have any regulatory or legislative concerns that you want us to share with our elected representatives while we are in Washington, please share with Jeff or Jay so we can add your voice when we Hike the Hill during our DC visit.
