CUFD Awarding 20 Scholarships to Students from the Dakotas!
by CUAD Communications
2/14/2020

The Credit Union Foundation of the Dakotas (CUFD) will be awarding twenty $500 scholarships for the third consecutive year. Ten scholarships will be awarded to North Dakota applicants and ten to South Dakota applicants who exemplify the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” through volunteering, community service, and leadership.

In a recent issue of Credit Union Journal, CUFD Executive Director, Lori Welder, was featured in an article titled, “Can credit unions help narrow the skilled trades gap?”

In part, Welder said, “Demand for the scholarships is high – last year more than 200 students applied from across the two states. With a number of vocational and technical schools across the region, a number of students do apply specifically for assistance with skilled trade certifications – possibly, she said, in part because of the high focus on energy and gas across the region.”

It’s important to note, these CUFD scholarships are not just for college-bound students, but for any student pursuing further education at a technical/vocational school.

  • Applicant must have been a credit union member for at least one year and account must be in good standing.
