The President's Perspective

Happy Valentine’s Day week!

I send greetings today from sunny, but not so warm, Las Vegas, Nevada. The expected highs here this week are for the low 60s. Still, that’s much warmer than most of the Dakotas this morning, and no snow!  Anyway, it’s good to get away from the winter for a few days.

I’m here for the 4th Annual MonDak Roundtable meetings. I’m excited to participate and share this high-level learning opportunity with over 80 CEOs, volunteer board members, and preferred business partners who are joining us for our two-day conference. The CUAD Board of Directors is also on hand for their winter meeting and strategic planning session prior to the conference. At this year’s event, we are once again having pre-conference sessions that are CEO and volunteer specific, leading to our general session on Wednesday with some proven industry thought-leaders. If you are a credit union CEO, manager, or volunteer who wants to learn new techniques that can help your credit unions grow and remain relevant, this event should definitely be on your educational radar for 2021.

Join us for an update on “Open Your Eyes” awareness campaign – “All-In” 2.0!

The Dakotas were one of the first regions in the country to launch and experience the digital CUNA consumer consideration campaign last year, and the results from July to December certainly indicate that we are hitting our targets. The campaign aims to grow membership and business among millennials and women between the ages of 33 and 50 who have children. That’s because research shows the latter group makes the financial decisions in the family.

Research also shows that 98 percent of the general public knows what a credit union is, but they still don’t know that they can join one. That’s a consumer consideration problem, and that’s where the Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union® initiative comes in. It is an all-out and “all-in” effort by our movement to get more consumers to consider credit unions as their best financial services provider.

I hope you can join us for this webinar on Tuesday, February 18 at 3:00 p.m. (CT)We want to share how the campaign is hitting its targets here in the Dakotas, and what to expect this year. We also want to make sure that our contributing credit unions are utilizing the many co-branding assets and tools available to them.

CU leadership and marketing professionals will definitely want to be on this call so you can make the most of your investment! There is no charge and no limit to the number of team members that can participate, so feel free to have several from your credit union sign up. This webinar is open to campaign contributors AND to credit unions interested in learning more about the national initiative. We do need you to register in advance, and if you have any questions about the webinar or campaign, be sure to contact Lori Welder

Congratulations to Aspire Credit Union.

Finally, I want to send my congratulations to Aspire Credit Union (formerly Prairie Federal CU) in Minot on their successful rebranding launch. Last week, they held a celebration for employees, members, and the community and had a great turn out. As we all know, rebranding is a huge and all-encompassing project that takes time, effort, and creativity. If you haven’t seen their new look, be sure to check out the related story in today’s Memo for some fantastic pictures.

Have a great week and Happy Valentines Day!
