M-O FCU Awards $1,000 in Scholarships
by CUAD Communications

M-O Federal Credit Union of Huron, South Dakota recently awarded two of their members with $500 educational scholarships. The recipients were Landon Hegg (shown left) Hayden Hegg (right). Landon will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, and plans to major in Ag Systems Technology. Hayden will also be attending South Dakota State University, where he will be studying for a career in either Exercise Science or Pre-Physical Therapy. In a remarkable coincidence, these two young men were also recipients of the Credit Union Foundation of the Dakotas scholarships that were awarded this past spring. While their applications were each reviewed by different judges, both were highly scored, and were two of the 20 selected scholarship winners!

M-O FCU would like to congratulate all recent graduates and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors!

M-O Federal Credit Union (M-O stands for Missouri-Oahe) is located in Huron, South Dakota. The credit union was chartered in 1950 when 14 members from the US Bureau of Reclamation pooled their money together. As the Bureau of Reclamation employees were working on building the Oahe Dam at the Missouri River, traveling from Huron to Pierre each week was creating a hardship for many families. The credit union was formed to lend money to the federal employees traveling to work on the dam. Shortly thereafter, membership was expanded to include all federal and postal employees and their families. Today, they have more than 2,000 members and hold over $29M in assets.
