Meet Our 2020 Summit Crashers!
by Lori Welder
Director of Communications

It is my distinct pleasure to announce that eight young credit union professionals have been selected as Crashers for our 2020 CUAD Summit, October 5-6 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota! These up-and-coming credit union advocates receive FREE registration to the Summit, plus special activities designed to enhance their experience. Let’s meet the group!

Top Row (L-R): Daphne Schlepp; Shelby Gondzar; Andrew Goeden; Erica Clements. Bottom Row (L-R): Alyssa Bainbridge; Jaymason Bramblee; Pamela RedLeaf; Elizabeth Colby.

Alyssa Bainbridge – Voyage Federal CU (Sioux Falls, SD) – HR Specialist/Admin.

At her credit union, Alyssa has many duties, including enrolling employees in the benefits program, processing payroll, recruiting, and facilitating new hire orientation, just to name a few. As a fitness enthusiast, she describes herself as bubbly, motivated, and passionate. Since she is new to Sioux Falls, the credit union industry has given her a place to feel connected with the community, and she is refreshed by how connected the staff at Voyage FCU is with its members. In fact, that is one of the reasons she enjoys coming to work every day! At the Summit, she is hoping to learn about the “ins and outs” of credit unions and is looking forward to networking and connecting with other Crashers.

Jaymason Bramblee – Oahe Federal CU (Pierre, SD) – Loan Processor/Member Outreach.

Jaymason has been a credit union professional for seven years, beginning as a teller. In her current role, she has many duties including processing different types of loans from auto to home equity. She also does a lot of the back-office work that comes with loans such as titling and insurance. To add to her vast array of skills, she does all the marketing for the credit union and processes daily mobile deposits. She describes herself as social, energetic, and bubbly. Her role helps her see firsthand how member’s lives can be turned around by applying the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.” Jaymason enjoys hunting, fishing, and being outdoors! She is looking forward to gaining some new ideas and implementing them when she returns from the Summit.

Erica Clements – East River Federal CU (Madison, SD) – Marketing Specialist.

In her role at East River FCU, she handles all facets of marketing - from digital to traditional. She is the planner, the creator, and the reviewer. She sees her position as an educator to their members and the public to help makes people’s lives better. Erica grew up in a small town of only 400 people and recalls many early credit union experiences. From participating in the Pee Wee Penguin program and having a phenomenal experience with the lady that helped her get her first credit card at their local credit union, she is excited to be amongst the same caliber of people from her childhood memories. She describes herself as charismatic, funny, and tenacious. At the Summit, she is hoping to get expert advice on all things credit union so she can help excite the staff and create a strong sense of pride in her organization. Fun fact about Erica – she used to be a DJ for a radio station in college!

Elizabeth Colby – North Star Community CU (Maddock, ND) – Branch Manager.

Elizabeth is the branch manager of both the Velva and Butte offices and helps staff develop and grow their skillsets so that as a team, the credit union can provide the best member experience possible every day for its members. The collaboration in the credit union industry really impresses her – recognizing that as an industry we are a family of individuals and competitors, but a family that recognizes that we only succeed if our neighbor succeeds. She describes herself as reserved, open, and a thinker. Elizabeth is looking forward to learning new, creative ideas at the Summit as well as soaking in the rejuvenated excitement. Interesting fact – she directs the Community Cantata and Handbell choirs!

Andrew Goeden – Vermillion Federal CU (Vermillion, SD) – Loan Officer.

Andrew started working at Vermillion FCU just over one year ago. In his role as a loan officer, he interviews applicants, analyzes loan applications, and does loan underwriting. Working in a small community allows him to have a personal connection with the members of Vermillion FCU. He describes himself as ethical, dependable, and motivated, and always wants to put Vermillion’s members into the best possible situation for their financial wellbeing. Andrew is hoping to learn new leadership skills to become a more confident and respected leader in his role. Andrew loves spending time outdoors.

Shelby Gondzar – Dakota Rail Line Federal CU (Huron, SD) – Operations Manager.

Shelby was practically raised in credit unions as her mom was the manager of Dakota Rail Line while she was growing up. She worked at a few other credit unions spanning more than eleven years before coming back to her roots at Dakota Rail Line, where she has been for the past five years, loving every minute. She is deeply rooted in the credit union philosophy and always tries to go above and beyond to help their members. Shelby describes herself as energetic, organized, kind, and is looking forward to meeting new people and hearing from the great speakers at the Summit. Fishing year-round is one of her favorite things to do!

Pamela RedLeaf – Highmark Federal CU (Rapid City, SD) – Personal Financial Associate.

Pamela worked for credit unions for eleven years as a teller then transitioned into lending. She enjoys the fact that credit unions help improve lives every day! Her current role finds her taking inbound and making outbound calls, researching existing memberships for potential refinance opportunities, and assisting members with questions or problems that arise. She also helps her members with simple needs such as balancing their accounts and teaching them about budgeting. Pamela describes herself as fun, energetic, and motivated. She is expecting to gain some insight from other professionals she meets at the Summit and is looking forward to the great networking opportunity.

Daphne Schlepp – Hometown Credit Union (Kulm, ND) – Operations Assistant.

Daphne has been a lifelong member of a credit union, along with her parents. In her role, she most recently managed Hometown’s conversion project. She also heads their new credit card program and does all the marketing and balancing for the program, amongst her many other duties. She enjoys giving members the tools that make their finances easier to manage. She describes herself as organized, detailed and a thinker, and can play five different instruments! Daphne is looking forward to learning more about marketing and can’t wait to hear Shawna Suckow speak! She then wants to bring her new knowledge back to help grow their products and entice more members to take advantage of the benefits they provide.

Last but not least – we want to introduce you to our Crasher Mentor - Nanci Wilson!

Nanci is the Marketing & Community Engagement Officer at University FCU in Grand Forks, ND. Years ago, she found a credit union willing to help her through a financially challenging time when no other institution would, and she has been a credit union believer ever since! She earned her CUDE (Credit Union Development Education) designation in 2015 , was named a 2017 Credit Union Rock Star by CU Magazine, is a contributor to CUInsight, and has been a guest on several trade-related Podcasts! Nanci’s warm personality and enthusiasm for the industry is contagious – and we are certain that Crashers and attendees alike are going to enjoy meeting her.

“I am truly looking forward to meeting all of the crashers at this year's CUAD Summit,” Wilson says. “There is nothing quite like a CUAD event to make those important connections, learn about the CU Movement, and to leave you energized to make a difference in your community. From what a credit union is to the foundation on which we stand – I am excited to be a part of these crasher AH-HA moments!”

This Friday, Nanci will be featured in our CU Professionals Spotlight – so be sure to watch the Memo to learn more about this credit union dynamo!
